Ugh. Just look at that map! I know, I know. You guys are sick of winter and I don’t blame you a bit. It’s been a long one for you guys and I’m sure everyone is going a little stir crazy. We didn’t really experience any of that here in California, but you have my sympathies, really. Anyway, according to meteorologists, it’s going to be cold and wet for a few more weeks at least. While I can’t do anything about that, I can help think up activities to pass the time on your snow days or rainy weekends. The nice thing is that a lot of these ideas don’t cost anything and the following list can spin off into more ideas and variations.

Remember, most of these ideas can be adapted to work with little kids or with groups of friends. (Almost all can and should be done with an open bottle of wine.)

  1. Movie trilogy day – ex: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, or even Lord of the Rings if you’re ambitious.
  2. Watch an old, classic movie that you’ve never seen before.
  3. Swap video games with friends and play some new stuff.
  4. Video game tournament. Winner retains all bragging rights.
  5. Accessories or book swap.
  6. Build a blanket fort. Tell spooky stories to your kids.
  7. Organize photos.
  8. Upload photos to sharing sites.
